Ecoforestry Field School (11-12)
An immersive, hands-on program for grade 11 and 12 Science students, our Ecoforestry Field School is modelled after a real university field school course! Like our Ecoforester for a Day program, the Field School includes links to BC Curriculum while providing students with concepts and skills used everyday by those working in biology, ecology, and forestry.
A typical schedule might look like this:
9:15 - Your class arrives by bus or parent drivers and you make your way down the driveway to the Education Platform.
9:30 - A quick introduction followed by data collection demonstrations.
10:00 - Students are led to their forest plots and get to work on taking measurements, identifying plants, and recording data.
12:15 - Lunch break at the Education Platform.
12:45 - Students can stay at the Platform and start discussing their management plan, ask questions of naturalists, or return to their plot to collect more data.
1:30 - We say our thank yous and goodbyes!
