Restorative Forest Therapy
Join us for an introduction to this powerful therapy for relieving stress, and other chronic health issues.
This Restorative Forest Therapy workshop is an introduction to effective therapy techniques known to decrease physiological and psychological stress by increasing parasympathetic nervous activity. Studies show that people with chronic heart failure, poor immune response, inflammation, type II diabetes, depression and anxiety can benefit from exposure to forested environments.
Participants will learn to slow down, use proper body positioning, appropriate cadence, cognitive awareness, effective breathing and a positive frame of mind.
You will gain insights to the beneficial healing abilities of a specific type of natural forest, and open you to how a more extended program of Forest Therapy can benefit you for long term health.
Victor will be offering a 6-day program in Restorative Forest Therapy, each month this summer at Wildwood, beginning in May. Check back here for more details and registration.
Our Facilitator - Victor Woods
Victor earned a Master in Environmental Studies degree (MES) for Towards Sustainable Forestry from York University and is also a Certified Holistic Practitioner (CHHP), a Registered Shiatsu Therapist (RST) and qualified in 2017 for Wilderness First Aid. He researched and co-wrote “Forest Based Therapy: Case Study of a Novel Regime for improved respiratory health”, published in 2018 in Integrative Medicine: A Clinician’s Journal.
