Linnaea borealis

General: Trailing, slender, semi-woody, evergreen; short (less than 10 cm tall), erect, leafy stems from long runners, more or less hairy.

Leaves: Opposite, firm, to 1 cm long, broadly elliptic, dark green above, paler below, with a few shallow teeth along the upper half.

Flowers: Pink, trumpet-like, nodding, 2-5 mm long, fragrant; in pairs, borne on a thin Y-shaped stalk.

Fruits: Dry nutlets with sticky, glandular hairs that readily catch onto the fur of mammals, or feathers of birds.

Ecology: Open or dense forest, shrub thickets, muskeg and rocky shorelines, at various elevations up to timberline.
